Planned Giving Consultant



Since 1986, Mr. McMorran has provided fund development, endowment, planned giving and management services, including investment and administrative support, to charitable organizations under the name of Green Oak Consulting Group and Green Oak Charitable Administrators, LLC. He also works with retirement communities in strategic planning, fund development, risk management and long-term care.


Prior to this, he was responsible for all aspects of developing a new prepaid health plan (HMO) under a Medicare demonstration project, the SCAN Health Plan in Long Beach, CA. Bill began his career working for 10 years at AARP in Washington DC where he established and built AARP’s TAX-AIDE and Health Advocacy Programs. He represented the healthcare and tax needs of older persons to appropriate agencies and Congress while interpreting tax and health policy to AARP members. He contracted with IRS to fund a 20,000 person, national volunteer network that continues to serve over 2 million persons annually.


Published articles include: Healthcare Forum; National Journal; Modern Maturity; Men's Fitness (Contributing Editor); Contemporary Long-Term Care and many other publications. Served as a speaker for groups nationwide including White House conferences; Leading Age; American Dental Association; AHP and AIRI.


Bill is a member of the national Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP), serving as the Chair, PPPLA Membership Committee and Board Member in 2013-2014. Bill is also a member of the Presbytery of the Pacific, having worked with its Administration and Investment Committees for several years. As a Board Member of the Southern California Association for Healthcare Development (SCAHD), as a Faculty Member of the Institute for Senior Living, Leading Age of California and Leading Age, National Bill continues to work in meeting the needs of older persons.


Bill is a graduate of the Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, CT, Princeton University, Princeton NJ and Princeton Theological Seminary. He is married with three children and lives in Hollywood, CA.

Mary Bohmke

Senior Consultant

Green Oak Consulting Group is pleased to announce that Mary Bohmke, CAP®, of Edmonds WA, is joining the Green Oak team of advisors as a Senior Consultant, effective Jan. 1, 2017. This will enhance Green Oak’s service and support to the Pacific Northwest. Green Oak currently serves clients in CA, CO, IL, MD, OK, PA, TX, SD and VA. 

Mary brings over 25 years of planned giving and resource development experience to the Green Oak team. Prior to joining Green Oak, she had served as the National Director of Planned Giving for the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as planned giving staff for national organizations such as St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Mary has also served Seattle organizations such as Pet Partners and the Seattle Symphony.

Her passion lies in ensuring brighter futures for charitable organizations. She fulfills this by creating significant planned giving programs based on donor engagement and education along with critical technical support. She is also active in her Seattle community developing programs that serve the homeless and women’s services.

Mary is a recognized expert in her field and a frequent speaker for nonprofit groups and professional associations alike, including Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a former President of Washington Planned Giving Council and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®).

Green Oak, based in Los Angeles with its operation centers in Roseville, CA and Niantic, CT, is pleased to welcome Mary to the Team.

Jill Valdez, CPA

Manager of Trust Administration

Ms. Valdez has been a CPA for over 20 years. She has worked with small business owners, individuals, and family foundations to ensure fiscal and tax integrity. This includes stepping in as acting Controller for her clients. She has worked with a regional Public Accounting firm and done forensic accounting to identify a case of embezzlement.


Joining Green Oak in 2014, Jill has applied her specialized skills to make sure that all trusts are complete and accurate. She is responsible for maintaining Green Oak’s program integrity and oversees all aspects of charitable trust administration. 


Jill received her B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from the University of Washington in Seattle.


Jill stays involved in her community through volunteer service with a variety of organizations. 

She has four children and is a dedicated parent.  Jill enjoys going to her children’s sporting and church events, traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, and time with family.



Kathy Learned

Manager of Operations/Administration


Mrs. Learned has been providing customer service for over 30 years. She has worked with The Gap and Macys in training staff to meet and surpass customer expectations. Kathy joined Green Oak in 2012 to strengthen its client services.


She has been an effective group leader and now oversees Green Oak’s Charitable Gift Annuity programs. As a result, she has become an expert in the nuances of the CA Department of Insurance CGA process.


Kathy received her B.S in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from California State University Chico.


Raising 3 children, Kathy has been involved in their school programs (Teachers Aid and Art Docent) as well as sports programs. If you need to find Kathy on the weekends you can usually find her out at a soccer field somewhere in California with 1 of her 3 children out on the field.
